Actually, that’s a little harsh. John O’Shea is a decent defender for one of England’s biggest clubs, and for all I know could be a very nice man. Believe it or not, Alex Ferguson values his Irish utility man to the tune of £80,000 per week.
The real reason you shouldn’t pick O’Shea has nothing to do with his hilarious and much-blogged about shooting skills. It’s the fact that as a utility man (centre-back, fullback, occasional midfielder) he’s not guaranteed a starting spot at Manchester United. Sure, he plays plenty over the course of the season, and good luck to him. But on any given week, you can’t select O’Shea in your fantasy football team and be confident that Alex Ferguson will do the same at Manchester United. And the above incident probably isn’t going to make it any more likely.
