After seeing @JamieMRatcliffe suggest that “People must be fed up of me taking points”, I decided to accept his invitation/challenge to compete in a private Gold Level Competition. It’s $16 to enter, with $79 prize money for the winner. I’m in.
The team I’ve chosen to hopefully win that mini-league features goal scoring defenders Robert Huth, Nemanja Vidic and Brede Hangeland, plus Manchested City goalie/defender duo Joe Hart and Vincent Kompany. Here’s to a pleasant mix of clean sheets and goals.
In midfield I’ve gone with loyalty. And the law of averages. Rafael van der Vaart, Clint Dempsey and Cesc Fabregas did nothing for me in game week 25. So that means they owe a bounty of fantasy football points in game week 26. You got that fells? Good.
Up front is where I’ve really gambled though. I’m predicting Fernando Torres will both play and score for Chelsea against Liverpool on Sunday. It just feels pre-ordained. So he’s in. Robin van Persie is in a bit of form, so he stays. But the captain’s armband goes to Wayne Rooney this week. His performance against Villa screamed “I’m back” in a loud Scouse accent, and with in-form Manchester United playing win-wary Wolves, I can see him filling those boots once again.
So those are my guys for game week 26. Can you do better? Pick a team and find out.
